Youth Opera Studio Participant Information Form

To participate in the 2026-2027 Minnesota Opera Youth Opera Studio program, students and their guardian(s) are required to recognize the following attendance policy:

We expect that students enrolled in the Youth Opera Studio are present as often as possible; however, students will be permitted up to 3 excused absences and 1 unexcused absence throughout the course of the Youth Opera Studio program year.

Excused absences include any absence communicated at least 72 hours in advance, absences due to illness communicated before class time, and absences due to emergency.

Students/guardians are expected to communicate all non-illness related absences at least 72 hours in advance

Students/guardians are expected to communicate illness as soon as possible before class begins. If a student does not attend school, they should not attend Youth Opera Studio.

In the case of emergency, please communicate with us as soon as possible.

• Non-illness related absences (ie. travel, school events, family gatherings), are unexcused if they have not been communicated at least 72 hours in advance.
• Absences due to illness are unexcused if they have not been communicated before class begins, with the exception of a health emergency.
• Arriving to class more than 20 minutes late is considered an unexcused absence, unless the tardiness was communicated at least 72 hours in advance.

If a student exceeds 3 excused absences or exceeds 1 unexcused absence during the Youth Opera Studio program, it will result in a conversation about the student’s eligibility to continue participating in the program. We understand that schedules are complicated, and that unforeseen challenges may arise throughout the year. We are often able to provide accommodation, provided communication is clear.
