Kao Kalia Yang’s works at the Luminary

—on stage and in partnership with Twin Cities book retailers

Minnesota Opera is happy to be collaborating with local independent booksellers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for the upcoming production of The Song Poet, a memoir by Kao Kalia Yang adapted for the opera stage. Booksellers will be present at select performances during the run of The Song Poet (March 9-26) to promote sales of Yang’s novel and engage with opera audiences at the Luminary Arts Center. With the goal to merge two worlds of artistic pursuit and promote opportunities of partnership with local businesses, MN Opera is excited to be fostering relationships with booksellers in the Twin Cities.

We’d like to thank Hmong ABC, Subtext Books, Black Garnet Books, Red Balloon Bookshop, Next Chapter Booksellers, Birchbark Books for their participation and support of MN Opera and Kao Kalia Yang’s novel and world premiere of The Song Poet. Take a listen to Yang’s narration of The Song Poet: A Memoir of My Father on Spotify.
