ABOUT BEYOND THE YEARS
Celebrating the legacy of Florence B. Price, internationally renowned soprano Karen Slack seamlessly blends a historically overlooked musical legacy with present-day artistic excellence as she presents selections from her GRAMMY®-winning album, Beyond The Years alongside MN Opera VP, Artistic Joseph Li. The groundbreaking album features superb recordings of 19 unpublished pieces (including 16 world premiere recordings) by composer Florence B. Price, considered the first African-American woman to have a composition played by a major orchestra. This event features Price’s music alongside songs by Ravel and Schubert. This enchanting event will take listeners on a journey of rediscovery, reflection, and reimagination.
