Rodolfo Nieto

Bass-baritone Rodolfo Nieto can be seen performing theater, musical theater, and opera throughout the region. Recently he has performed the role of Leon Czolgosz in Assassins and Dr. Carrasco/Knight of Mirrors in Man of La Mancha, both with Theatre Latté Da; El Duende in Des Moines Metro Opera’s production of María de Buenos Aires; Starbuck in 110 in the Shade with Theatre in the Round; and the Marine in Safe at Home with Mixed Blood Theatre.

Rodolfo worked as a Resident Artist with Minnesota Opera from 2009-2011, during which time he performed the role of the Third Inquisitor in Casanova’s Homecoming, Colline in La bohème, and Joseph in Wuthering Heights. In subsequent years he returned to sing Scottish Soldier #1 in the world premiere of Silent Night (2011), Johann in Werther (2012), Horatio in Hamlet (2013), José Castro in La Fanciulla del West (2014), and Sciarrone in Tosca (2016). Throughout the years he has also worked with the opera’s education outreach program and performed for a variety of galas, private events, and even stepped into the role of auctioneer for an opera fundraiser.

Expanding his collaboration with the company, Rodolfo has produced a number of his own concerts at the opera center, ranging from classic recitals to concerts of Mexican and Latin American music, where he and his band have presented free, bilingual concerts to the public.
