Mark Billy

Native (Choctaw) baritone Mark Billy recently won first place in the St. Croix Valley Opera Vocal Competition. A recipient of Opera Reading Project’s 2022–2023 IDEA Fellowship, Mark will also sing in Minnesota Opera’s upcoming productions of Edward Tulane and Daughter of the Regiment. Other recent highlights include a recital engagement with Schubert Club, a 2021 debut with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and a virtual recital supported by grant funding from the Wagner Society of the Upper Midwest. Mark was a resident artist with Fargo Moorhead Opera and Hawaii Opera Theatre and won first place in the 2018 Schubert Club Bruce P. Carlson Student Scholarship Competition. Current positions include: Cantor at St. Albert the Great Church and St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, baritone of the Bethel Quartet in Hudson, WI, member of the Minnesota Chorale and Minnesota Opera Chorus, and faculty member at the St. Paul Conservatory of Music and the International School of Minnesota.
