Margaret Jumonville

Margaret Jumonville (she/her) is an opera stage director who cultivates bold dramatic work, consent-forward spaces and queer storytelling. For three seasons, she was the Company Artist Assistant Stage Director at Minnesota Opera. While there, she served as Associate Director for Matthew Ozawa’s production of Romeo and Juliet. Directing credits: La belle Helene, Die Zauberflote, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Hansel und Gretel, Alcina, Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Giulio Cesare, La voix humaine, La Clemenza di Tito, Suor Angelica, Mansfield Park. Assistant Director: productions at Minnesota Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Charlottesville Opera, Opéra Louisiane, Chicago Summer Opera, Opera Steamboat, and Opera NEO. Theatrical Training: Suzuki Method for Actors and Viewpoints with the SITI Company. Young Artist Directing Fellow: Wolf Trap Opera, Chicago Summer Opera, Opera Steamboat, Opera NEO. Margaret holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame, Duquesne University and the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a DMA in Opera Directing.
