Levi Hernandez

Baritone Levi Hernandez has joined the rosters of leading opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and Houston Grand Opera where he debuted as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly next to Ana Maria Martinez and Joseph Calleja.

Last seen with Minnesota Opera as Rambaldo in La rondine his engagements for the 2020/2021 season included the title role in Gianni Schicchi with the Opera Theater of St. Louis for their 2021 festival season and Rappaccini in La Hija de Rappaccini in Chicago Opera Theater’s filmed production.  Other recent highlights include Tonio in Il Pagliacci  with Opera Colorado and El Paso Opera; Aba in El Milagro del Recuerdo with Houston Grand Opera; Rabbi Lampert in Enemies, A Love Story with Kentucky Opera; Sharpless in Madama Butterfly with Virginia Opera; Pa Joad in The Grapes of Wrath with Michigan Opera Theatre; Inspector Kildare in Elizabeth Cree with Chicago Opera Theater; and Alvaro in Florencia en el Amazonas with San Diego Opera and Madison Opera, in which he will return to the stage of the Lyric Opera of Chicago in the 2021/2022 season

Mr. Hernandez has been seen on the concert stage as a soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the El Paso Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony, and the Pennsylvania Ballet; Dvořák’s Te Deum with the Shippensburg Music Festival; and Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Pennsylvania Ballet. After receiving his undergraduate degree at Westminster Choir College, Mr. Hernandez attended the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.
