American bass, Kenneth Kellogg begins the 2019/20 season in Europe as he returns to Ópera de Oviedo in the role of Count Sam Horn Un ballo in Maschera. He travels to Kraków, Poland for performances of Rossini’s Sigismondo singing the two roles of Ulderico and Zenovito with Capella Cracoviensis. At both Washington National Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago the artist returns to the role of Father Blue written by Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson for Glimmerglass Festival’s world premiere of the piece last summer where he inaugurated the role to great acclaim. Also at Washington National Opera he makes his role debut as Crown Porgy & Bess, and on the concert platform he joins Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra for the newly commissioned Obama Song Cycle for the Charles Ives Concert Series. Recent highlights include the role of Monterone in Minnesota Opera’s new production of Rigoletto, and he revived the role of Sam Bakewell The Summer King at Michigan Opera Theatre, a role he inaugurated at Pittsburg Opera during its world premiere. He returned to Washington National Opera for Father Palmer Silent Night and sang the role of Ashby La fanciulla del West at Maryland Opera. Other career highlights include his appearance as Mephistopheles Faust at Opera de Lausanne in a return engagement, and at Opera de Oveido, Spain; he was Zuniga Carmen at PORTopera, and Young Emile Champion for Opera Parallele in its West Coast premiere. As Sarastro Die Zauberflote, Kenneth made his debut at Opera de Lausanne, and also sang the role at Virginia Opera and Opera Memphis. At Annapolis Opera, Kenneth made his debut as Don Alfonso Cosi fan tutte. Born and raised in Washington, D.C, the artist began his formal musical training at the Duke Ellington School of the Performing and Visual Arts as a Vocal and Visual Arts student. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Ohio University. He continued his studies at the Academy of Vocal Arts, and at Wolf Trap Opera; he is an Alumnus of the Adler Fellowship at San Francisco Opera and the Domingo-Caftriz Emerging Artist Program at Washington National Opera. Other roles in the artist’s repertoire include the title role, Leporello and Il Commendatore Don Giovanni, Ramfis and Il Re Aida, Colline La Boheme, the title role Hercules, The King Ariodante, Osmin Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Sparafucile Rigoletto, Fasolt Das Rheingold.
