Christina Christensen
This season, mezzo-soprano Christina Christensen sings Suzy and Lolette in La Rondine. In the 2017-18 season, she sang Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, the Page Boy in Rigoletto, and chorus in Thaïs. She has been a regular member of the MN Opera chorus since 2014. In summer 2017, she was a Resident Artist with Opera North, where she sang Leoena and covered the title role in Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène. Other credits with Opera North include ensemble in Madama Butterfly and Kiss Me Kate, and Mrs. Olson in a touring outreach of Street Scene. Her concert credits include Handel’s Messiah with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Vespers, and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Orchestra and University Choir. She will return to the DSSO in 2019 as a soloist for Mendelssohn’s Lobegesang.
Ms. Christensen was a 2017 Encouragement Award winner and 2014 Regional Finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She has also been awarded first place in her categories for the Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition and Minnesota NATS. Ms. Christensen received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where she performed the roles of Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus and Ernesto in Haydn’s Il mondo della Luna.
